CAMERA

Moto G4 Play boasts a decent 8MP main camera with 5MP selfie or front facing camera. It has Dual LED for a change which balances the exposure during a photo click and avoids your clicks to be overexposed with whiteness.

The FPS remains the same at 30 fps and resolution for video recording is 1080p at highest.

OPERATING SYSTEM AND PERFORMANCE

Android 6.01 Marshmallow Operating system is now quite a standard in all Moto phones and this stays the same here. Lenovo has preserved the stock ROM feel as in their all phones and UI is left to standard.

With 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor and 450 MHz Adreno 306 GPU there seems to be pretty downgraded from previous Moto G4. But again, Moto G4 and G4 Play has price difference of 2-3 K flat and in Indian rupee that is much.

RAM stays at 2GB standard with internal memory at 16GB. This is expandable to 128GB.

DISPLAY

Moto G4, E3 and G4 play may sometimes look the same but they are not. Moto Display is an addition here to Moto G4 Play.  It also boasts One hand mode which is not there in E3 Power.

It has a 12.7 centimeters (5inch) HD display, 720p HD (1280×720) resolution with 294 ppi pixel density. Gorilla Glass 3 comes as a standard and Motorola Water Repellent nano coating is there to save your phone from splashes and rain.

BATTERY

At a price tag of 8,999 a battery of 2800 mAh may not sound much for many people. However, we should always remember that it is equally important how the OS and other hardware are optimized. With Motorola phones, the OS is nearly bloat free and hardware is amazingly optimized that a 3500 mAh phone is always unable to compete with Moto’s 2800.

It has Rapid charging feature and comes with 10W rapid charger. In 15 minutes, this phone is charged for 5 hours of use as per declarations.

CONNECTIVITY

Moto G4 play is a 4G phone (VoLTE) with dual SIM (micro+nano with adaptor) and dual-standby (4G+4G). Wifi and Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 comes as standard.

DESIGN

Every Moto is quite different than the previous one when it comes to design. However, there is not much difference this time other than texture. Moto G4 and G4 play looks almost same.

VERDICT

While Moto G4 play specs and price may not justify to many people, but the people who are fans and previous users will be delighted with this addition to Moto Family. Without a Fingerprint sensor and lower battery power, this phone might struggle with Flipkart’s heavy contender Red Mi 3S Prime which offers Fingerprint sensor, with 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM at same pricing. It also has track record of going Out of stock every now and then.
